Hi everyone, I’m Ben Buchan, and it is with great honour that I introduce myself as the 2015/16 Australasian Rolex Scholar, what an amazing opportunity! After an inspiring weekend in New York, meeting Danny Copeland, the 2015 European scholar, and Michele Felberg, the 2015 North American scholar, I headed home to Sydney to prepare for my first trip.

 

While home in Sydney, I got to try out all my new dive equipment from Tusa and Waterproof! They kitted me out from top to toe with amazing gear! So I tested it out at one of my favourite local dives sites, at Shelly Beach in Manly, with the outgoing scholar Courtney Rays.

 

I also took some time to set up my  amazing new underwater camera set up from REEF Photo and Video. Each year, REEF Photo and Video sponsor each scholar by supplying a complete underwater camera system and Light and Motion sponsor video lights so we can blog our entire year with photo’s and video!
