On March 8th 2008, a dinner was held in conjunction with the ANZEC chapter of the Explorers Club.
The dinner was to announce the 2008 Our World-Underwater Scholarship Society’s Australasian Rolex Scholar, Steven Lindfield. The event was held at the Masonic Club in Sydney in the beautiful Cello Room.
Master of Ceremonies for the evening was David Strike who started the night by introducing world famous shark experts Ron and Valerie Taylor. Ron and Valerie gave us a video preview of their most recent film work diving with sharks in Fiji, Tahiti and Guadeloupe.
The evening was also for Mathew Kertesz our current Australasian Rolex Scholar of the Our World – Underwater Scholarship Society to showcase his past year as a scholar. Mat preseneted a 10 minute video clip of his expereinces over the year.
Jim Corry, Chairman of The Our World – Underwater Scholarship Society flew in for a few days to attend the event. Jim introduced Adam Ravetch, a past scholar and Explorer Club member.
Adam is a marine naturalist, scuba diver, and award-winning wildlife filmmaker, Adam has been involved in a myriad of projects that has taken him to the far corners of the earth. Dedicated to creative filmmaking, he strives to bring to the screen the unforgettable details of animals’ lives and their relationship to mankind. Adams film Arctic Tale will be launched in Australia this April.
As a past scholar Adam introduced Steve Lindfield as the new Our World-Underwater Scholarship Society’s Australasian Rolex Scholar.
Adam also gave a presentation of his works over the years keeping us all spellbound at his interaction with a mother walrus suckling her calf.
All too soon the evening came to end but the Our World-Underwater Scholarship Society’s Australasian Rolex Scholar, Steve Lindfield is just commencing what will posssibly be the best year of his life.
